Demi Lovato admits being famous isn't all that easy. The "Camp Rock" star shared that being in the spotlight comes with a huge price: losing her privacy and her ability to be truly open, because she knows she can be judged on anything she says.
"The worst part about [being famous] is that you have to watch everything you say," the 16-year-old told the New York Daily News. "You have to be very careful."
The actress/singer said she finds it hard to understand why anyone would be interested in her personal life. "My life isn't any more exciting than theirs, but for some reason people think it is. I write and play music. Nothing makes my life more extravagant."
But Lovato, who is also working on a new album, knows that there is one other Disney star who has it much worse than her when it comes to the media spotlight and scrutiny. "It's not really that bad," Lovato said. "Sometimes I wish my life wasn't public. But I really don't have it that bad. I feel bad for Miley [Cyrus]. She has a million photographers following her everywhere."
Lovato said she doesn't read tabloids, so the attention she does receive from them doesn't get to her. "It will eat you alive if you read it," she said. "It will definitely tear you apart."
Despite missing out on the so-called normal adolescence experience, Lovato said she's loved working in the entertainment industry since she first appeared on "Barney & Friends" when she was 6.
"I still don't believe I've had half the success I've had. I hope I never wake up from this dream."
